Pappinisseri Shiva temple is located at Pappinisseri in Kannur district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Mahadeva Shiva. The annual festival in the temple is held in Vrischika Masam (November – December). Mahashivratri is another important festival in the temple.
This is a traditional Kerala style temple with a square sanctum sanctorum. The two tier chatura sreekovil has a Shivling.
The annual festival is noted for Kodiyettam, Mulayidal, Sree bhootha bali, Maha Mrityunjaya Homam, kazhcha seeveli, Dhanvantari homam, Thidambu nritham, pallivetta, pandi melam, thirchu ezhunnallathu, pallikurup, arattu and arattu sadhya.
The annual Shivratri festival is noted for Ganapati homam, navakam, sree bhootha bali, thayambaka, thidambu nritham and nama pooja.
The annual Navratri festival is of great significance in the temple. Grantha puja, Vahana puja and vidyarambham are held on the occasion. Various musical and dance performances are too part of the Navratri festival.
The upa devatas worshipped in the temple are Bhagavathy, Sri Krishna and Ganapathi.

ആയിരത്തി ഒരുന്നൂറിലധികം വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുമ്പ് മൂഷിക വംശത്തിലെ അഹീരണന്‍ എന്ന പ്രശസ്തനായ രാജാവ് പ്രഥനാ നദി (വളപട്ടണം പുഴ)യുടെ പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ഭാഗത്ത് അഹീരണന്‍ എന്ന ശിവക്ഷേത്രം നിര്‍മ്മിച്ചുവെന്ന് ചരിത്ര ഏടുകളില്‍ തെളിഞ്ഞു കാണുന്നു. ചരിത്രമുറങ്ങുന്ന പാപ്പിനിശ്ശേരിയുടെ സര്‍വ്വൈശ്വര്യങ്ങള്‍ക്കും നിദാനമായ ഈ പുണ്യപുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രം കാലചക്രപരിണാമങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ശേഷം അനേകം തലമുയില്‍പ്പെട്ട ഭക്തജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ചൈതന്യമേകിക്കൊണ്ട് ഇന്ന് കാണുന്നതരത്തിലുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രമായി നിലനിന്നുവരുന്നു.
