Kidarakuzhi Idivizhunnavila Devi Temple - Festival

Kidarakuzhi Idivizhunnavila Devi temple located at Kidarakuzhi in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy or Devi. The 8-day annual festival in the temple is coincides with the Bharani nakshatra in Kumbha Masam (February – March). The festival is famous as Kidarakuzhi Idivizhunnavila Kumbha Bharani.

This is a small shrine with a Shila pratishtha of Bhagavathy in the chathura sreekovil. The temple has a chuttambalam, namaskara mandapam and shrines of upa devatas.

The annual festival is observed with Tantric rituals and pujas including pushpanjali and abhishekam. Various Kerala folk art forms and procession are part of the festival. Kalamkaval, Bhadrakali pattu, annadanam, sadhya, pongala and fireworks are part of the festival. Thalappoli ghoshayathra or procession with caparisoned elephant is an important event during the festival.

The shrine also observes Navratri and Thrikarthika.
