Brahmamangalam Mahadeva Temple – Festival

Brahmamangalam Mahadeva temple is located at Brahmamangalam in Kottayam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Shiva – Mahadevar. The 8-day annual festival in the temple is held in such a manner that it ends with Arattu on Thiruvathira nakshatra day in Kumbha Masam.

The temple has a vatta sreekovil – round sanctum sanctorum. The sreekovil faces east and a Shivling is worshipped in the temple. The shrine has a nalambalam, flag pole or dwajasthambam, namaskara mandapam and shrines of upa devatas. The upa devatas worshipped in the temple include Bhagavathy and Ganapathy.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for ezhunnallathu, caparisoned elephants, homams, dhara, abhishekam and Kerala temple performing arts.

Other auspicious days in the shrine include Ramayana Masam, Vrischika Masam (Mandala Kalam), Thrikarthika and Thiruvathira in Dhanu Masam.
