Puthuppally Edamarathussaril Shiva Temple – Festival

Puthuppally Edamarathussaril Shiva temple is located at Puthuppally near Kayamkulam in Alappuzha district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Shiva or Mahadeva. The temple is famous for its annual Shivratri festival held in Kumbha masam (February – March).

A Shivling is worshipped in the main sanctum. This is a traditional Kerala style temple with a chathura sreekovil, namaskara mandapam, kodimaram and shrines of upa devatas.

The main upa devatas here are Bhagavathy and Ganapati.

The annual festival is famous for various pujas, uma maheshwara puja, udayasthaman pooja, niramala, abhishekams and homams. Temple art forms, and melam are part of the annual festival.

The shrine also observes Ramayana Masam, Vinayaka Chaturthi and Thiruvathira in Dhanu Masam.
