Thrippakkudam Mahadeva Temple – Festival

Thrippakkudam Mahadeva Temple is located on the Haripad – Veeyapuram Road near Haripad in Alappuzha district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Shiva – Mahadevar. The annual Mahashivratri festival is the most important festival in the temple.

The temple has a square sanctum sanctorum – chathura sreekovil, nalambalam, and namaskara mandapam. The temple has a well maintained large temple pond.

The annual festival is famous for Kala Varavu – huge effigies of ox are pulled to the temple on the occasion.

The annual festival is also famous for various pujas, Ganapati homam, mrityunjaya homam, udayasthamana pooja, niramala, abhishekams and homams. The deity is taken atop a caparisoned elephant as part of ezhunnallathu.

Temple art forms, tableau, floats, procession and melam are part of the annual festival.

The shrine also observes Ramayana Masam, Vinayaka Chaturthi, Mandala Kalam, Thrikarthika and Thiruvathira in Dhanu Masam.
