Ramapuram Palliyampuram Mahadeva Temple – Festival

Ramapuram Palliyampuram Mahadeva temple is located at Palliyampuram near Ramapuram in Kottayam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Mahadevar or Shiva. The temple is a good halting point for Sabarimala pilgrims from Idukki district and Tamil Nadu. The annual Shivratri is an important festival here.

This is a traditional Kerala style temple with a pond, kodimaram (traditional temple flag pole), chathura sreekovil, nalambalam, namaskara mandapam and shrines of upa devatas.

Shivratri festival is famous for ezhunnallathu, caparisoned elephant, melam, and Kerala traditional temple performing arts. Colorful procession with tableau, kavadi, characters from Hindu scriptures and traditional items make the festival popular in the area.

The temple observes various other auspicious events and festivals including Ramayana masam, Prathishta dinam, Thiruvathira and pradosham.

The temple also has an annual festival.
