Paruthippally Mahadeva Temple – Festival

Paruthippally Mahadeva temple is located on Nedumangad Highway at Paruthippally near Vellanad in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Mahadevar or Shiva. The annual Shivratri in Kumbha Masam (February – March) is an important festival here.

This is a small Shiva temple with a chathura sreekovil. An ancient Shivling is worshipped here. The outer structures of the temple are comparatively new. There is a very old tree in front of the tree.

The annual temple festival is famous for tantric pujas and rituals. Homams, dhara and annadanam are part of the festival. Colorful procession and traditional temple art forms make the festival popular in the area.

The temple observes various other auspicious events and festivals including Ramayana masam, Pratishta dinam, and pradosham.
