Yogaja In Hindu Philosophy

In Hindu philosophy, Yogaja is one of the alaukika pratyaksha – non-sensual perception of things. Alaukika pratyaksha is perception through extraordinary (in contrast to the ordinary) channels, i.e. not through the senses. This concept seems to be the contribution of the Naiyayikas (logicians), beginning with Gangesha Upadhyaya. Three kinds of extraordinary perception have been identified – samanya lakshana pratyasatti, jnana lakshana pratyasatti and yogaja. Yogaja is a super-sensuous intuition of things and events in the past, present and future. This power of omniscience is possessed by the accomplished yogins. Others will have to exercise their powers of concentration to acquire this power. These are respectively called the yukta yogins and the yunjana yogins.

While they share some common elements and have been practiced in parallel, they have different approaches and goals. Key Concepts: Advaita Vedanta posits that the ultimate reality (Brahman) is devoid of distinctions and is the only true existence. It teaches that the individual self (Atman) is identical to Brahman and that the apparent diversity of the world is an illusion (maya).
