Padinjarekara Gomukha Shiva Temple – Festival

Padinjarekara Gomukha Shiva temple, on the banks of Tirur – Ponnani River, is located at Padinjarekara near Malappuram district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Shiva – Mahadeva. The annual Maha Shivratri festival which falls on February or March (Malayalam Kumbha Masam) is an important day in Padinjarekara Gomukha kshetram.

This is a small temple – the sreekovil has a Shivling which is of ancient origin. There is a nalambalam and namaskara mandapam. The upa devatas worshipped include Devi and Ganapathy.

The Shivratri festival is noted for abhishekam, dhara, Tantric pujas and rituals, homam etc.

Pradosham during every fortnight, Mondays and Saturdays are of great significance here.

Thiruvathira in Dhanu Masam is another important festival here.
