Jagadhatri Devi is the form of Mother Goddess Shakti in which she the ruler of the universe. She is worshipped for prosperity and for victory over enemies. Below is Goddess Jagadhatri Puja vidhi or procedure along with mantra. This is a simple guide on how to perform Maa Jagadhatri Devi Puja and is ideal for performing it at home.

 परितुष्टा जगद्धात्री प्रत्यक्षं प्राह चंडिका नमोस्तु ते॥
Om Partithushta jagaddhatri Pratyaksha Praha Chandika Namostute 

When to Perform Goddess Jagadhatri Puja?

The ideal day to perform the puja:
  • Navami or Dasami Tithi – the ninth or the tenth day of the waning or waxing phase of moon. Ninth or tenth day after full moon (purnima) or no moon day (Amavasya).
  • Another option is when there is Vishaka Nakshatra in a lunar month.
  • The puja becomes doubly auspicious when there is a combination of Vishaka and Dasami Tithi.
This form of Goddess is also  associated with Tantra vidya.

Legend has it that the Devas became arrogant after Devi helped them get back heaven. Devi had defeated Mahishasura. Jagadhatri appeared them to teach modesty. She made them realize the real power behind their victory.

  • As per Bhavishya Purana and Durga Kalpam, those performing the puja will be blessed with wealth, peace, prosperity, and strength to overcome enemies.
  • Difficulties from life will be removed.
  • Desire fulfillment.

Simple Goddess Jagadhatri Puja Vidhi

  • The puja should be performed early morning after sunrise or during the pradosh period (1.5 hours before sunset).
  • The murti (picture, photo or painting) of Goddess Jagadhatri should be placed on the northern corner of the house on a yellow color cloth.
  • The puja should be performed facing north.
  • The person performing puja should wear yellow color clothes.
  • Take a kalash fill it with water and put chana dal in it. Close the kalash with a coconut. Keep this near the picture or sculpture or painting of Jagadhatri.
  • The lamp should be lit using ghee mixed with haldi (turmeric). One wick is preferred.
  • Dhoop should be of camphor or karpur.
  • Yellow color flowers should be offered.
  • Tilak should be made using haldi (turmeric)
  • Milk and honey should be offered.
  • Banana should be offered as bhog or Prasad. It should be later kept under a peepal tree.
  • The mantra ॐ परितुष्टा जगद्धात्री प्रत्यक्षं प्राह चंडिका नमोस्तु ते॥ should be chanted 108 times. The count should be kept on any mala.
  • The water and chana dal in the kalash should be deposited under a peepal tree.

Special Pujas

  • To come out of difficulties in life, mix milk with turmeric power and offer it to Goddess Jagadhatri.
  • For happiness in the family, place yellow color flowers of til or mustard on karpur and offer it to Goddess.
  • For desire fulfillment, offer banana to Goddess and then give it to a cow.
