Keezhattur Vechiyottu Bhagavathi temple is located near Thaliparamba in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is an important Shakti worship center – dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. The shrine is also dedicated to numerous deities that are worshipped in tharavadu and kavu in the region. The annual theyyam – kaliyattam – thira festival is held for four days in Malayalam Meda Masam – (April 28 to May 1) (Medam 15 to Medam 18).
The temple has a main small chathura sreekovil (square sanctum sanctorum). There are also other small square platforms and sreekovil for worshipping other deities.
The important theyyams that are part of the annual
kaliyattam festival are Bali theyyam, Vadakkathy Bhagavathy theyyam,
Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Thottinkara Bhagavathy theyyam, Thekkan Gulikan, Dharma
Daivam, Madayil Chamundi theyyam, Thaiparadevatha theyyam and Dhooliyanga
Bhagavathy theyyam.
