Kannapuram Keezhara Pulitharammal Bhagavathy temple is located at Keezhara near Kannapuram in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy and several other deities that are worshipped in tharavadu, temples and kavu in the region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for three days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 20 to Kumbham 22 (March 4 to March 6).
This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil for the
main deity. There are couple of other small square sanctum sanctorum for other
deities. Several deities are worshipped on square-shaped raised platforms which
are exposed to the elements. Some deities are worshipped under trees. Vishu is
an important festival here. Sankranti in a Malayalam month is of great
importance.
The important theyyams that can be witnessed here are Dharma Daivam, Vishnumoorthi, Thee Pottan (തീപ്പൊട്ടന്‍), Sthanapottan (സ്ഥാനപൊട്ടന്‍), Gulikan and Pollan theyyam.
The festival begins with a the Kalavara Niraykkal
ghoshayatra from Mathamban Bhagavathi temple. Deepam and thiri ezhunellathu from
Kulom Bhagavathy temple.
- March 4 വൈകീട്ട് കീഴറ മാത്തമ്പന്‍ ഭഗവതിക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍നിന്ന് കലവറ നിറയ്ക്കല്‍ ഘോഷയാത്ര.
- March 5 വൈകീട്ട് അഞ്ചിന് കൂലോം ഭഗവതിക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് ദീപവും തിരിയും എഴുന്നള്ളത്ത്. രാത്രി ഏഴിന് കാഴ്ചവരവ്. ധര്‍മദൈവത്തിന്റെ പുറപ്പാട്, ഒന്‍പതിന് വിഷ്ണുമൂര്‍ത്തി വെള്ളാട്ടം, 11-ന് തീപ്പൊട്ടന്‍ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ തോറ്റം.
- March 6 രാത്രി ഒന്നിന് കലശം എഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പ്. March ആറിന് പുലര്‍ച്ചെ നാലിന് തീപ്പൊട്ടന്‍ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പുറപ്പാട്. അഞ്ചിന് തീപ്പൊട്ടന്‍ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അഗ്നിപ്രവേശം, തുടര്‍ന്ന് ആറിന് സ്ഥാനപൊട്ടന്‍, ഗുളികന്‍, പൊല്ലാന്‍, വിഷ്ണുമൂര്‍ത്തി എന്നീ ദൈവങ്ങളുടെ പുറപ്പാട്, ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് 11-ന് കൂടിയാട്ടം, ദൈവക്കോലങ്ങളുടെ ആറാടിക്കല്‍.
