Mullakkodi Kelothu Puthiyapurayil Sree Vayanattukulavan Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam Kaliyattam Festival

Mullakkodi Kelothu Puthiyapurayil Sree Vayanattukulavan Devasthanam temple is located at Mullakkodi near Kayaralam in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Vayanattu Kulavan and other warrior deities. The annual kaliyattam thira theyyam festival is held for three days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 21 and Kumbham 22 (March 5 and March 6).


The main deity is worshiped in a small chathura sreekovil – square sanctum sanctorum. The roof of the shrine has a traditional look with religious motifs. There are smaller sreekovils for other deities. Some deities are worshipped atop raised square platforms and under trees.

The main theyyams that are worshipped in the temple are Kandanarkelan, Kudiveeran theyyam, Pottan theyyam, Bhagavathy theyyam, Thekkan Gulikan theyyam, Vayanattu Kulavan theyyam and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.
