Chemmnad Eekkot Melath Tharavadu Devasthanam temple is located at Chemnad in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Chamundi and important deities that are worshipped in kavu, tharavadu and sacred places in the region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 20 and Kumbham 21 (March 4 and March 5).
The main shrine is a small square sanctum sanctorum –
chathura sreekovil with a beautiful traditional roof. The walls too are
decorated traditionally. There are other similar sreekovils and smaller
structures. Some deities are worshipped on square platforms and under trees.
Vishu is an important festival here. Sankranti in each Malayalam month if of
great significance.
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Chemmnad Eekkot
Melath Tharavadu Devasthanam temple are Kodoth Chamundi theyyam, Kurathi
theyyam, Padinhatta Chamundi theyyam, Gulikan theyyam and Vishnumoorthi
theyyam.
