Pady Kamalon Tharavadu Devasthanam Temple – Kaliyattam Theyyam Festival

Pady Kamalon Tharavadu Devasthanam temple is located at Pady near Cherkala in Kasaragod district, Kerala. This is tharavadu or traditional family-maintained temple. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival in the temple is held for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 23 and Kumbham 24 (March 7 and March 8).

This is a traditional temple with a Chathura sreekovil for the main deity. Other deities are worshipped under trees and on raised square platforms which are exposed to the elements. Sankranti in a Malayalam month is the most important day in the shrine.

The important theyyams that are performed at Pady Meethale Veedu Kamalon Tharavadu Devasthanam temple are Chirattakotti theyyam (ചിരട്ടകൊട്ടി), Raktheswari theyyam, Vishnumoorthi theyyam and Karukalakki theyyam.
