Poinachi Mudiyakkal Tharavadu Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam – Kaliyattam Festival

Poinachi Mudiyakkal Tharavadu Devasthanam temple is located at Poinachi in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Puthiya Bhagavathi and other important deities that are worshipped in kavu, tharavadu and sacred places in the region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 29 and Kumbham 30 (March 13 and March 14).

The main shrine is a small square sanctum sanctorum – chathura sreekovil with a beautiful traditional roof. The walls too are decorated traditionally. There are other similar sreekovils and smaller structures. Some deities are worshipped on square platforms and under trees. Sankranti in each Malayalam month if of great significance.

The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Poinachi Mudiyakkal Tharavadu Devasthanam temple are Puthiya Bhagavathy theyyam and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.

പൊയിനാച്ചി മുദിയക്കാല്‍ തറവാട്ടില്‍  March 13-ന് വൈകുന്നേരം 6.30ന് പുത്തരിയുത്സവം നടക്കും. തുടര്‍ന്ന് അന്നദാനം, രാത്രി കളിയാട്ടം. 14-ന് പുലര്‍ച്ചെ നാലിന് പുതിയഭഗവതിയുടെ പുറപ്പാട്. രാവിലെ പത്തിന് വിഷ്ണുമൂര്‍ത്തി തെയ്യം
