Talk About Emotional Crisis – We All Are Suffering From It

We worry more about physical health; we take medicine for even a slight fever, pain or a headache. But do we give half of that attention to our mental health? We need to accept the fact that many a time our emotional health needs attention and proper care. We all are suffering due to poor mental health.

  • Too much of television, internet or print media. Swallowing all that is dished out in the print and electronic media. Irrelevant, negative and scary information impacts weak people who cannot read between the lines.
The problem of mental health is not limited to a particular section of society. It is affecting the entire society even children who are supposed to have a joyful childhood are being deprived of it due to the mental health crisis.

Various mental health issues including depression are today directly linked to lifestyle diseases and suicide.

Spiritual Well Being - Do Your Own Quest

The unprecedented mental health crisis in the world is the result of materialism, insatiable desire, uncontrollable lust, power, fame, dishonesty, hatred, intolerance, and lack of trust.

There is lack of spiritual well being today because there are no seekers. We get everything ready-made and even spirituality has become readymade. We have surrendered our spiritual needs to some religious organization, guru, godmen or spiritual television channels. Only a genuine seeker who is ready to make that effort to walk on the road of spirituality can attain spiritual wisdom. Rest all are borrowed spiritual wisdom it will not last long. For a good mental health, become a genuine and honest spiritual seeker. Find out who am I? Do not rest on borrowed knowledge of who am I.

Go Back to Roots

Going back to the roots is the best solution to fight depression and other mental health issues. Who are we? What did our ancestors do? How did they face life? Where they more mentally fit than us? We need to embark on a spiritual quest. This does not require money or an incredible amount of time. An hour or less a day should be spent on spiritual thoughts. Connecting with our roots is necessary. We all have sprouted from a single seed and we all will eventually return to that single seed. The crisis is when we think we are different from the primordial seed.

Stop Searching External Happiness

Stop searching for happiness outside. Smoking, alcohol, drugs, substance abuse and numerous other methods to find happiness externally is a search in the wrong direction. They only create physical and mental health issues. This can be only understood when you are spiritually aware. Mental health crisis is the direct result of the external search for happiness. Learn about the short lifespan of external happiness. Then search for happiness that is eternal and everlasting. This happiness is not outside it is within.

Discipline The Mind

If you take a look at what constitutes mental health crisis and what are the direct causes of it you will notice that all of it are due to an external factor. A mind, which is constantly looking outside for love, respect and happiness cause only problems. An outward looking mind invites, creates and imagines problems. The outward-looking mind needs to be disciplined. It should be taught the art of discrimination.

Stop Expecting Start Giving

Instead of expecting love and respect, we should learn to give them in abundance. Live in the present and work hard to fulfill our goals and dreams. Do not get entangled in results. Fun and joy is in working not in result.

Focus on forgiveness, focus on giving, focus on spreading love, and focus on positivity. Drop hatred, drop the past, drop ego, drop anger and drop all forms of negativity.

Develop Courage to Say No

If you are in a bad relationship, come out of it. Be independent. When you know what you want, go for it.

Make Life Simple - Develop Positive Thoughts and Actions

Take long walks, go on vacation, do treks, help the unfortunate, read good literature, stop following sects that spread hatred and negative thoughts.

Be in the company of good people. Indulge in activities in which you have a positive role. Develop empathy. Keep pets. Start gardening. Find joy in planting trees. Develop compassion to all living beings. Be content with what you have. Do all these things without any expectation. Do not worry about results. Spread unconditional love and do selfless service.

Do Not Impose and Do Not Get Trapped

Do not impose spiritual and religious beliefs on oneself and others. Guard against exploitation and violence. Stay away from people who only talk about sins and guilt. There is no one sitting up to clean your sins and guilt. You are not a sinner. You might have committed mistakes and there is plenty of opportunity to correct them if you want. Know that there is no one to share your sin and mistakes or suffer for you. You have to clean them here and only you can clean them.

All sects, religious and spiritual organizations are stagnant pools. They are not rivers. You need to be the river, which surges ahead and finally merges in the ocean without fear.

Break all chains that are keeping you tied.

If you lack the strength to break the chains, then the best weapons to break all chains are Bhagavad Gita and Yoga Vasishta. Soar high and fly with the help of them.

Krishna can only give guidance, Arjuna has to do all the work. Krishna is ever ready to show the right direction but are you ready to be the Arjuna.
When a man finds delight within himself and feels inner joy and contentment in himself, there is nothing more to be done. (Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita)
