Sridhar Maas – Vaishnava Month - Worship Of Bhagavan Vishnu In Shravan Month

Sridhar Maas corresponds to the Shravan month as per traditional North India Hindu calendar. The name and rituals in the month are followed by Vishnu devotee. This is the second month during the Chatur Mas. Sridhar Maas 2024 is from July 22 to August 19.

As part of the Chaturmas, green leafy vegetables are avoided by certain Hindu communities. The main reason for this is that it is the peak monsoon season in North India. Leafy vegetables tend to be more polluted.

The previous month as per this Vaishnava naming was the Vaman Maas. The next is the Hrishikesh Mas and Sri Krishna Jayanti is observed in this month.

Please note that Shravan month is a holy month in North India, Western Parts of India and for some communities in South India. In North and Western parts of India, the month is dedicated to worship of Shiva.
