Chengaloor Shiva Temple Near Thrissur

Chengaloor Shiva temple is located at Pudukad Village in Thrissur district, Kerala. The temple has huge Shivling as prathishta. The shrine is noted for its huge circular sanctum sanctorum – vatta sreekovil. The temple was a mahakshetram during ancient times.

The main darshan of the temple is towards west. Goddess Parvati shrine is located on east part of the sreekovil and the Goddess faces east. Mother Goddess is worshiped in the Shailaputri form. The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Srikrishna, Sastha and Ganapathi.

The temple is located inside a 6.5 acre plot. The temple belongs to paliyam trust.

Among the 108 Durga temple is Kerala, there is a reference to Maravanchery. But there are no Durga temples in Maravanchery. Devotees and scholars are of the view that Goddess Parvati of Chengaloor Shiva temple is the goddess referred to as worshipped in Maravanchery.
