Kodoth Bhagavathi Temple Festival Near Kanhangad

Kodoth Bhagavathy temple is located at Kodom Belur village in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The temple is around 2 kms from Udanjalil on Kanhangad – Panathur road. The annual temple festival is held for five days starting from Karthika nakshatra in Kumbham month.

The main deity worshipped in the temple is Goddess Bhagavathi and she faces east. The Upa Devata worshipped in the temple is Sastha.

The temple used to hold Theyyam Padi Pattu earlier.

The machu or attic of gopuram has exquisite carvings based on stories from Hindu puranas. As per some people the construction of the gopuram began in 1897 and some believe it started in 1917. The construction of the gopuram was completed in 1921.

800,000 rupees was spent on the construction which took place under the strict vigilance of Mavila Chanthu Nambiar.

Rich in architectural beauty, the major attractions of Kodoth Bhagavathi temple are the sculptures, wood paintings and the temple pond.
