Lakamma Temple at Gola Village, Alanda Taluka, in Gulbarga
District in Karnataka is unique for several reasons. An important offering here
is footwear (chappals). People tie garlands made of footwear on a neem tree in
front of the temple.
Another unique aspect of the temple is that the priest in
the temple is from the Muslim community.
People get their wishes fulfilled after offering chappals to
the deity.
People of the region believe that Goddess Lakamma move around
the village wearing footwear and protect them.
Yet another unique aspect of the temple is that the head of
the deity worshipped in the temple is hidden underground. Devotees can only see
the backside and the legs of the Goddess.
