Gauri Shankar Temple At Jagatsukh Near Manali in Himachal Pradesh

Gauri Shankar Temple at Jagatsukh is around 6 km from km from Manali in Himachal Pradesh. The shikhara temple is one of the most important temples at Jagatsukh village. Dated to the 8th century CE, the temple is dedicated to Shiva and his consort Parvati. The divine couple is represented in a shila (stone) in the garbhagriha or sanctum sanctorum.



Exquisitely carved brackets and panels depict numerous deities of Hindu pantheon, including Surya and Vishnu. The roof has detail carving of three-faced Shiva and there is also a sculpted image of Shiva and his consort seated on Nandi.

The temple is under the jurisdiction of Archeological Survey of India (ASI).
