Kuttemperoor Sree Karthyayani Devi Temple – Information - Festival

Kuttemperoor Sree Karthyayani Devi Temple, also known as Kuttemperoor Devi Temple, is located at Kuttemperoor in Mannar, Alappuzha district, Kerala. The main deity worshiped in the temple is Goddess Karthyayani Devi. The 10-day annual festival in Kuttemperoor Sree Karthyayani Devi temple is held in such a manner that the Pooram Nakshatra in Meenam month falls on the 9th day of the festival.

The temple is noted for the wooden carvings on its sreekovil.

The sanctum sanctorum is circular in shape – vatta sreekovil. The murti of Mother Goddess Karthyayani devi is made using a special mixture of Darbha grass and river sand.

The sreekovil of the temple is noted for its wooden sculptures.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Bhagavathi, Sastha, Shiva and Rakshas. Yakshi is worshipped in the Thidappali.

There is a presence of Rakshas in the temple and it is believed that the rakshas is of a namboothiri of Pazhoor Mana who was part of the family that performed puja in the temple.

The temple first belonged to Pazhoor Mana and later it came under the control of a Warrier. Today, the temple is maintained by a committee of villagers.
