Arogya Sashti

Arogya Sashti is observed on the sixth day during the waxing phase of moon in Jyeshta month (Jyeshtha Shukla Paksha Shashti tithi). The day is dedicated to Kartikeya, Surya and Agni. The popular belief is that worship and prayers on the day will help in restoring good health. Arogya Sashti 2025 date is June 1.

It is believed that eating only once in the day is highly beneficial. The food is to be eaten before sunset. Planting trees and feeding animals on the day is considered highly meritorious.

An important ritual known as Arogya Sashti is observed on the day in many regions.

In Bengal, the day is observed as Jamai Sasthi. The famous Shiva - Parvati Vivah is held on the day in Odisha and is known as Sitala Sasthi.

The day is also famous as Skanda Shasti in North India.
