Pulinkeezhil Daivam theyyam is a rare theyyam seen especially in Kannur region during the annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival. As per information, this theyyam is associated with Puli or tiger (wild animal belonging to the cat family). As per Pulinkeezhil Daivam theyyam story, this is a fierce manifestation of Mahadeva Shiva in tiger form. A karnavar of the tharavadu is believed to have darshan of this deity in tiger form. It is also believed that the form annihilated people who disturbed its peace. A theyyam was offered to keep the deity calm.
The theyyam does perform some ferocious actions.
