Pooram Ganapathy – Auspicious Day Of Ganesha

Pooram Ganapathy is an auspicious day dedicated to Ganesha in Kerala. It is observed on Pooram nakshatra day in Meena Masam (March – April). Ganapathi is worshipped on the day as the deity of learning and science (shastra).

Vinayaka Chaturthi in Chingamasam, Thiruvonam nakshatra day in Thula Masam and Pooram nakshatra day in Meenam month and first Friday of every Malayalam month are good for vidyarambham or initiation of children into the world of letters.

Ganesha is worshipped on Pooram Ganapathi day in his child form – Bala Ganapathi.

The day is auspicious for children, students and all those people who are attempting to learn something.

The important offering on the day are Karuka Mala, Mukkutti Mala and Modakam. Ganapathi homam and chemganapathi homam are too performed.
