Panchavady Shankaranarayana Temple – Festival – Panchavadi Ambalam

Panchavady Shankaranarayana temple, also known as Panchavadi Ambalam, is located at Panchavady on the Panjavadi Beach Rd near Edakkazhiyur in Thrissur district, Kerala. The annual arattu mahotsavam festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Meda Masam (April – May). The shrine is dedicated to the Shankaranarayana combined form of Shiva and Vishnu. Panchavadi Pooram is held during Deepavali Amavasya day (October or November).

The shrine is located near the Arabian Sea. The temple is famous for Bali Tharpanam dedicated to ancestors. Karkidaka Vavu Bali is of great importance in the shrine.

This is a big temple with a chathura sreekovil, namaskara mandapam, shrines of upa devatas and kodimaram. The upa devatas worshipped in the temple include Bhagavathi and Sastha.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for caparisoned elephants, ezhunnallathu, melam and tantric and vaishnava pujas and rituals.

The temple observes Shivratri, Vishu, Ramayana Masam, Thiruvonam, Mandala Kalam with Ayyappa Vilakku.
