Magh Mahina is the eleventh month in a traditional Hindu Hindi calendar followed in North India . Magh Month 2026 begins on January 4 and ends on February 1, 2026. This calendar is followed mainly in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Chhattisgarh and other North Indian states. A month in these regions is calculated from the day after Purnima or full moon to the next Purnima. The current year in the Hindi Calendar is Saka 2082.

Morning Ritual in Magh Month
Wake just before sunrise and take bath. Then take water in a small puja vessel. Put some sesame, flower, durva or kusha grass and chandan. Then chant the following prayer.

Holy Things to do in Magh Month
- Take bath before sunrise.
- Mix til in the bathing water.
- Offer prayers to Surya by chanting Gayatri mantra and doing argya - showing water to sun.
- Chant the name of Vishnu on all days.
- Participate in satsang, pravachan and read about the Holiness of Magh month.
- Eat hot food.
- Donate food items that are heat producing like Til (Sesame) or Bajra.
Holy Bath in Rivers
Performing Holy Bath in rivers in Magh month is considered highly meritorious. Taking holy dip in rivers at Prayag, Kashi, Naimisharanya, Kurukshetra, Haridwar and at other holy places will help in achieving Akshaya Punya - Merit that is never diminishable.
