Manayail Pothi theyyam is a very rare theyyam performed during the annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival in Kannur and Kasaragod regions of Kerala. As per information, this is a female theyyam and is associated with a folklore. As per Manayil Pothi theyyam story, a woman of Thazhekattu Tharavdu climbed a jackfruit tree and plucked a jackfruit to make curry. The head of family thrashed her for this behavior. She died and she became a Daivakaru. She began to disturb the people of the family and to pacify her she was given a theyyam. The theyyam is annually performed to keep her content.
