Mukripokar Theyyam – Information – Story

Mukripokar theyyam (മുക്രിപ്പോക്കർ തെയ്യം) is a very rare theyyam performed during the annual kaliyattam, thira, theyyam festival in Kasaragod region of Kerala. As per information this is a Muslim male theyyam. Mukripokar theyyam story is that of an old man performing selfless sacrifice for the betterment of the family and region. He also has the darshan of Goddess Chamundi. It is said that Mukripokar had the vision of Goddess Chamundi when he attempted to catch fish from a river for a festival.

Mukripokar theyyam is annually performed at the Chittarikkal Kamballur Kottayil Tharavadu Devasthanam temple (October 27 to October 28) in Kasaragod region of Kerala.
