Retrograde Planets – Are They Good or Bad in Horoscope of a Person

In Hindu astrology, retrograde planets in a horoscope are those that appear to move backward in the sky from the perspective of Earth. According to astrological beliefs, the Sun and Moon are never retrograde. On the other hand, Rahu and Ketu, which are the lunar nodes, are constantly moving and are known to create disturbances and challenges.

Among the traditional planets, Mars (Mangal), Venus (Shukra), and Saturn (Shani) are known to go retrograde, although these events occur over longer periods compared to Mercury or the outer planets. The effects of retrograde planets are believed to vary, influencing both positive and negative aspects of life.

Venus, when retrograde, is generally considered auspicious in its effects. Its retrograde motion is often associated with revisiting past relationships or creative endeavors, offering opportunities for reflection and renewal.

Saturn and Mars, however, are traditionally viewed as causing more challenging circumstances when retrograde. Their retrograde periods are believed to intensify their respective qualities — Saturn's influence on responsibilities, discipline, and obstacles, and Mars' impact on aggression, conflicts, and energy.

In summary, while retrograde planets can indeed bring about both favorable and unfavorable outcomes according to astrological interpretations, Venus tends to be regarded positively during its retrograde phases, whereas Saturn and Mars are often associated with more challenging situations.
