Vallikunnam Karthiyayani Puram Temple – Festival

Vallikunnam Karthiyayani Puram temple is located at Vallikunnam in Alappuzha district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Bhagavathi Karthyayani and is also known as Vallikunnam Karthiyayanipuram Kaduvinal temple. The annual festival in the temple is held on Anizham nakshatra in Kumbha Masam (February – March). This is small traditional temple with a chathura sreekovil of Bhagavathi. The temple is more connected with nature elements as one can see lot of old trees here. The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Yakshi Amma, Nagarajavu, Nagayakshi amma, and Brahmarakshas. The shrine observes Navratri, Ashtami, Navami, Vidyarambham and Vrischikam Chirappu mahotsavam.

Nanthiattukunnam Kalikavu Temple – Festival - Kalikulangara Temple

Nanthiattukunnam Kalikavu temple is located at Nanthiattukunnam near North Paravur  in Ernakulam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Sri Muthi (Bhadrakali). The annual Valiya Vilakku festival is held in Kumbham 12 (usually on February 24 or February 25). The prathishta in the temple is Kannadi Shila Pratishta. Legend has it that five goddesses worshipped in Kodungallur, Kottuvally, Trikkapuram, Kalikulangara and Thonniyakavu arrived from a distant place here. An important offering here is Thendu made of jaggery and rice. The same offering which has the length of a human being is known as 'aal thend.' Thendu is offered mainly on Makara Chovva day. Paravur Yakshikavu Devi Temple – Anizham Festival

Paravur Yakshikavu Devi temple is located at Paravur in Kollam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Mother Goddess Bhagavathi in the form of Yakshi. The annual festival in the Yakshi Kavu temple is held on Anizham nakshatra day in Kumbha Masam (February – March). This is a small temple with a square sanctum sanctorum. The temple has got upa devatas – sarpam or nagam. The annual festival is famous for melam, traditional temple art forms, and pujas and rituals associated with Bhagavathy temple. Navratri and vidyarambham (ezhuthiniruthu) is observed in the temple. The temple is located amidst beautiful surroundings especially the backwaters.

Padur Panickanar Temple – Vela Festival

Padur Panickanar temple is located at Padur in Palakkad district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Ayyappa or Dharma Sastha. The annual Vela festival is held in the temple in Kumbha Masam (February 24 or February 25). The murti of Sashta worshipped in the temple is swayambhu or of divine appearance. This murti is located underground and devotees never take darshan of this murti. A utsava murti of Bhagavan is place for the darshan of devotees. There is no roof in the temple. Attempts were made thrice to create a roof but it feel down soon. Later it was realize Ayyappa here want to remain in pristine nature. The annual Vela festival in the temple kick starts the festival season in Palakkad region. Pattuvam Vadakke Kavu Temple – Panchuruli Kavu Kaliyattam Festival

Pattuvam Vadakke Kavu Temple, also known as Panchuruli Kavu kshetram, is located at Pattuvam in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. The annual Kaliyattam festival in the temple commences from February 24 (Kumbham 12) and concludes on February 28 (Kumbham 16). The theyyams and kolam that are part of the festival are Panjuruli theyyam, Raktha Chamundi theyyam and Thee Chamundi or Ottakolam. This is a small shrine that one comes across North Malabar regions. Thalappali In Theyyam Symbolism - തലപ്പാളി

Thalappali is the ornament worn on forehead by a Theyyam performer. It has deep symbolism. തെയ്യാട്ടത്തിലെ അവിഭാജ്യമായ അണിയലം ആണ് തലപ്പാളി . ഏതൊരു തെയ്യക്കാരനും ആദ്യം നെറ്റിയിൽ അണിയുന്ന അണിയലം ആണിത് ‌ .   ഒരേ പോലെയുള്ള 21 കരുക്കൾ അഥവാ അടരുകൾ ചേർന്ന ഈ അണിയലം പണ്ട് വെള്ളോട് കൊണ്ടാണ് നിർമിച്ചിരുന്നത് . എന്നാൽ വെള്ളി , സ്വർണം എന്നീ ലോഹങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട് നിർമിച്ചതും ഇന്ന് കണ്ടു വരുന്നുണ്ട് . പൊതുവെ ഒരു ചുവന്ന തുണിയിൽ ഇത് തുന്നിപ്പിടിപ്പിച്ചാണ് തലയിൽ അണിയുന്നത് .  21 ഭാഗങ്ങൾ എന്നത് 21 ഗുരു സങ്കല്പം ആണത്രേ . അതിനാൽ തന്നെ തലപ്പാളി നേരെ നിൽക്കാത്ത കോലധാരികൾക്ക് ഗുരുത്വം കുറവാണ് എന്നാണ് പഴമക്കാരുടെ വിശ്വാസം . അതിപാവനമായി കാണേണ്ടുന്ന ഈ അണിയലം അണിയും മുന്നേ തെയ്യക്കാരൻ തൊഴുത് പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുന്നതും കാണാം . പ്രപഞ്ചമാകെ പരിപാലിച്ചു പോരുന്ന 21 ഗുരുക്കന്മാരെ മലയരുടെ മന്ത്രവാദപ്പാട്ടിൽ ഈ ഗുരുക്കന്മാരെ അനുസ്മരിക്കുന്നത് കാണാം .  1. ഏകസ്വരൂപമായ പരംപൊരുളാണ് . 2. ശിവശക്തി സൂചകം . 3. ത്രിമൂർത്തി സങ്കൽപ്പം 4. നാല് വേദങ്ങൾ 5. പഞ്ചഭൂത മുദ്ര 6.

Madappally Arakkal Kadappurath Bhagavathi Temple – Festival – History In Malayalam

 Madappally Arakkal Kadappurath Bhagavathi temple is located at Madappally in Kozhikode district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi and Her Daughter. The annual festival in the temple begins on Rohini Nakshatra in Meena Masam (March – April). The annual Pratishta festival in the temple is held in Kumbha Masam.
