Puratasi Month 2025 – Importance of Purattasi Masam in Tamil Calendar in 2025

Purattasi Month is the sixth month in a traditional Tamil calendar and is of great importance. It is a highly auspicious month and is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara (Lord Vishnu). The Navaratri festival is also held in this month. Puratasi Month 2025 is from September 17 to October 17. Special pujas and prayers are observed on Saturdays in Puratasi month to please Shani Bhagavan.  Vinayagar Chaturthi is held in 2025 in Puratasi Masam and is on October 10. Special Rituals in The Month Special prayers are offered at the Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple in Purattasi Month. Another legend suggests that Lord Saneeswara (Shani) loses his powers in Puratasi month and so it is easy to escape his malefic influences. Purattasi Sani – Saturday in Tamil Month Purattasi

Saturdays in the Tamil month of Puratasi (September – October) is considered highly auspicious and special prayers are offered to Lord Balaji, Navagrahas and Lord Shani or Sani Bhagvan. The popular belief is that Lord Venkateswara made his divine presence on the earth in this month and returned to Vaikunta also in the month. There is also a legend that Shani Dev loses his powers in Puratasi month and therefore cannot create any trouble.  Sage Narada, or Narad Muni, wanted to know how people can worship Lord Venkateshwara after his departure to Vaikunta. Akkaravadisal – Sweet Made During Puratassi Month in Tamil Nadu

Akkaravadisal is a sweet that is prepared especially during Puratassi Month (September – October) in Tamil Nadu. The sweet is mentioned in Holy Scriptures and is also prepared in some Hindu Temples during the month. Puratassi Month is dedicated to the worship of Srihari Vishnu. Puratassi Fasting, or Puratasi Vratam, is observed in the Tamil month of Puratasi (September – October). In 2024, Puratasi month begins on September 17 and ends on October 17. Puratasi Masam is of great importance to Tamilians as it is believed that Lord Venkateswara (Balaji) appeared on the earth in this month. Purattasi Saturdays are dedicated to Lord Shani or Shani dev. Some people observe partial fasting on all days in Puratasi others limit it to Purattasi Saturdays.
