How To Observe Skanda Shasti Vratam - Fasting?

Skanda Shasti, or Kanda Sasti, Vratam is an important observance dedicated to Lord Muruga. It is observed in the Tamil month of Aippasi and most devotees fast during the 6-day period. There is no common method of Skanda Shasti fasting. Different devotees observe it differently. But there are some basic rules followed by all the devotees. The six day Skanda Sashti Viratham and Soorasamharam festival is of great importance at the Tiruchendur Murugan temple. The annual Tiruchendur Skanda Sashti Viratham and Soorasamharam festival begins on October 22, 2025. Soorasamharam date is October 27, 2025. Skanda Shasti festival like most other Hindu festivals celebrates the victory of good over evil. Skanda is also known as Lord Muruga, Subramanya, Kartikeya and Kartik.
