Akshayavat In Gaya

Akshayavat in Gaya is a sacred fig tree and an important teerth. As per Mahabharata this teerth is located in Gaya. The significance of Akshayavat is narrated by Pulastya Rishi to Yudhshtira while talking about important sacred places in the world. It is believed that taking holy dip in the Phalgu River here helps in attaining moksha. It is believed that Shiva, Skanda and Goddess Bhadrakali used to reside under the Akshayavat. Another famous Akshayavat is located at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. It is located in Patalpuri Temple at the Allahabad Fort in Prayagraj.

Kamadgiri Chitrakoot – Parikrama – Temple on Kamadgiri Mountain

Chitrakoot, which is located in North India, is associated with the epic Ramayana. Kamadgiri is a mountain in Chitrakoot and is around 130 km from Allahabad. The Kamtanath Temple dedicated to Lord Ram is located here. Parikrama of the parvat is considered meritorious. Kamadgiri means the mountain that fulfills all wishes. It is worshipped, as it is associated with Bhagavan Sri Ram. A forested hill, Kamadgiri is home to numerous temples. The holy mountain has a manmade path at the base and it is used perform parikrama or circumambulation. There are number of temples on the parikrama path and the most famous is the Bharat Milap temple, where Bharat met Bhagavan Sri Ram and asked him to return to Ayodhya. Panch Teerth in Hinduism

Panch Teerth in Hinduism are the five holy places where Hindus can take a holy dip to wash away the sins and attain moksha (liberation). Panch Teerth are: Pushkar Kurukshetra Gaya Haridwar Prayag (Allahabad) At Pushkar, devotees take a holy dip from Kartik Shukla Ekadasi (November) to Kartik Purnima. The five days are considered highly auspicious. Holy dip taken during Grahan (eclipse) at Kurukshetra is meritorious. Chitrakoot Parikrama

Chitrakoot Parikrama is the circumambulation of holy places in Chitrakoot in Uttar Pradesh in India . Devotees walk to various holy places in the town. Bhagvan Sri Ram, Mata Sita and Lakshman resided at Chitrakoot during their exile period in the Ramayana. Yudhisthira, the eldest of the Pandavas, is believed to have performed many pujas and rituals at this holy place. King Nala performed penance here to get back his kingdom. The Chitrakoot Parikrama is performed at Kamadgiri Hill which is around 2 km from the town. The route of the Parikrama is more than 4 kilometers and there are numerous temples and sacred places on the way. Shukastala – Shuka Muni Narrated Srimad Bhagavad Purana to Parikshit Here

Shukastala, also known as Shukratal, is a holy place located on the banks of Ganga River in Uttar Pradesh. It is believed that Shuka Muni narrated the Srimad Bhagavad Purana here to the Parikshit Maharaj. There is a very old Vata Vriksha here and it is believed that Shuka Maharishi sat under this tree and narrated the Bhagavad Purana. Legend has it that Parikshit Maharaj was cursed that he will be bitten by Takshak Snake and killed. To escape from it and to attain Moksha, Shuka Muni narrated the Srimad Bhagavad Purana. It is believed that reading or listening to Srimad Bhagavata Purana helps in redemption of sin and attaining Moksha. There is a temple dedicated to Shuka Muni here. Shakuntala is around 24 km from Muzaffarnagar. It is around 120 km from Haridwar and 100 km from New Delhi .
