Balumama Janmotsav is annually observed in Ashwin month. It
is the birth anniversary of Balumama Maharaj. The day is of great importance at
Metage near Kagal in Maharashtra. Balumama Janmotsav 2024 date is October 14. The
saint has thousands of followers especially among the shepherd community in
Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Balumama (1892 to 1966) was a shepherd by profession and he was
in contact with the lower strata of society and helped them in attaining true
knowledge. He spread the teachings like many Saints in the great Bhakti
Tradition in the region.
Various spiritual activities are held on the day at Metage.
Balumama Janmotsav is annually observed on Ashwin Shukla Paksha
Dwadasi Tithi or the 12th day during the waxing phase of moon in Ashwin
month as per traditional Hindu lunar calendar followed in Maharashtra.
