Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was a 15th-century Hindu saint who is considered to be the combined avatar of Radha and Krishna by his disciples and various scriptures. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu agrees with Vallabhacharya in holding that God is existence, consciousness and bliss, which is the Upanishadic definition of Brahman.
Brahman is both the material and efficient cause of the
world. His true nature is, however, brought out as the very form of love and
joy. Hence it follows that creation is permeated by love and joy through and through.
This power of Bhagavan is called ahladini or delight.
Chaitanya makes Radha the divine consort of Bhagavan Sri
Krishna as the power of delight. Bhagavan Krishna is the paradigm of beauty and
joy. Freedom of the self, according to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, lies in the
practice of love (preeti) of God. Love and bliss are both the means and goal of
release.
