Radha Saptami 2011 – Worship of Surya in Magh Month

Radha Saptami is a highly auspicious day dedicated to Lord Surya, the Sun God in Hinduism. Radha Saptami 2011 date is February 10. Lord Surya riding a chariot (Radha or Rath) driven by seven horses is worshipped on the day. Radha Saptami festival, also known as Rath Saptami, is observed on the seventh day of Shukla Paksha in the Magh Month (January – February) in traditional Hindu calendar. Radha Saptami is of great importance as the earth's inclination towards the sun is steepest on the day. A painting of Sun with seven chariots is made on the ground and worshipped in many places. People keep leaves of a particular tree on the head and take bath on the day. Some people boil milk in earthen vessels in the courtyard. The rituals observed on the day vary from region to region.
