Onakkoor Pandyan Para Temple – Festival

Onakkoor Pandyan Para temple is located at Onakkoor in Ernakulam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy. The annual festival at Pandyanpara Bhagavathy temple is held in Meena Masam (March – April). This is a small temple with a Chathura sreekovil. There are shrines of upa devatas. The annual festival in the temple is famous for Tantric rituals and pujas. Kalasham and abhishekam are part of the festival too.

Story Of Jada Bharata And Goddess Bhadrakali

Jada Bharata is a famous character in the Srimad Bhagavad Purana. There is a famous story of Jada Bharata captured by thieves who wanted to sacrifice him to Goddess Kali. Because of the merit earned in his previous births, Jada Bharata became spiritually awakened in his present life right from the birth. He realized his oneness with the all-blissful Atman, Supreme Self and never identified himself with the body. Kadampuzha Bhagavathy Temple – Festivals – Thrikarthika Festival

The most important festival observed in the world famous Kadampuzha Bhagavathy temple in Malappuram district, Kerala is the Thrikarthika festival in Malayalam Vrischika Masam (November – December). It is believed that Adi Shankaracharya had found in the presence of Kadampuzha Bhagavathy in the place on the Thrikarthika day. The temple does not observe any festival that involves the usual processions and other traditional Kerala temple festival activities. Thrikarthika is observed as the annual Pratishta day with Shuddhi, Navakom, Panchagavya and kalasams. Poomoodal is an important event on the day and it is performed by the temple administration. Thrikarthika vilakku (lighting of thousands of lamps) is performed at early morning hours on the day. Prasadam Oottu or free food is held from 10:30 AM. Edappavoor Bhagavathy Temple – Pooram Festival

Edappavoor Bhagavathy temple is located at Edappavoor on Cherukolpuzha - Ranni road in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi or Devi. The annual festival in the temple is held on Pooram nakshatra day in Meena masam (March – April) and is known as Edappavoor Meenam Pooram. The temple has a chathura sreekovil. The shrine has a beautiful nalambalam. There is namaskara mandapam and shrines of upa devatas. Various tantric pujas and rituals are part of the annual festival. Jeevitha ezhunnallathu is performed here. Traditional temple art forms, ezhunnallathu, melam and procession are part of the annual festival. Pongala ritual is held at the temple. The temple also observes various other festivities including pratishta dinam, navratri and Thrikarthika in vrischika masam. The annual pratishta festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Meena masam.

Purapuzha Puthuchira Kavu Devi Temple – Festival

Purapuzha Puthuchira Kavu Devi temple is located at Purappuzha in Idukki district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. The annual festival in the temple is held on Pooram nakshatra day in Meena masam (March – April) and is known as Puthuchirakkavu Meenam Pooram. It is a six day annual festival. The main deity worshipped in the shrine is Goddess Bhadrakali. This is a beautiful temple with a chuttambalam, namaskara mandapam, temple pond and shrines of upa devatas. The shrine is nearly 1500 years old and belonged to the Mazhtumcherri family. The annual festival is known for Ezhunnallathu, caparisoned elephants, Chenda melam, procession and attam. The festival culminates with arattu. The temple also observes various rituals during Navratri including Ashtami, Navami and Vijayadashami. Thrikarthika is another important festival in the temple.

Elavoor Puthenkavu Temple – Festival

Elavoor Puthenkavu temple is located on the banks of Chalakudy puzha at Elavoor on the Karukutty – Elavoor Road in Ernakulam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali. The annual festival in the temple is held in Meena Masam (March – April). The festival ends with Arattu on Chothi nakshatra. The annual festival is famous for mudiyettu, thalappoli, melam, ezhunnallathu, panchavadyam, caparisoned elephants and traditional performing art forms of Kerala. This is a typical Kerala style temple with kodimaram (flag pole), nalambalam, namaskara mandapam and shrines of upa devatas. The shrine also observes Navratri and Thrikarthika festivals. Thookam ritual was held earlier at the shrine but it is now stopped. The annual Pathamudayam festival (April 23) is held in the shrine with various pujas and rituals.

Neendoor Kuttiyanikulangara Devi Temple – Neendoor Kavu - Festival

Neendoor Kuttiyanikulangara Devi temple, also known as Neendoor Kavu, is located at Kaipuzha on the Neendoor - Kaipuzha Road in Kottayam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy. The annual prathishta dinam in the temple is held in Meena Masam. The annual festival is famous as Neendoor pooram. The sankalpam of Bhagavathy is that of Goddess Bhadrakali. This is a typical Kerala Style temple with Nalambalam, namaskara mandapam and shrines of upa devatas. The upa devatas worshipped in the temple are Ayyappa, Ganapathy, Karimkali, Rakshas, Nagaraja, Navagraha and Yakshi Amma. This temple is famous for Navagraha Puja and muttiraku vazhipadu. Tuesdays and Fridays are the most important days in the shrine. The annual festival is famous for ezhunnallathu, melam, caparisoned elephants, traditional performing arts of Kerala and arattu.
