Vaikarakavu Bhagavathy Temple – Festival

Vaikarakavu Bhagavathy temple is located at Vaikkara near Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavathy. The annual festival in the temple coincides with the famous Meena Bharani day in Malayalam Meenam month (March – April).

This is a small temple with a chathura sreekovil. The chuttambalam of the temple is beautifully decorated. The shrine has a namaskara mandapam and small temples of upa devatas.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for mudiyettu ritual. The festival also includes ezhunnallathu, melam, and procession. Unique annual Shakti temple pujas and rituals of the region are part of the festival.

The festival concludes with Arattu ceremony.

The shrine also observes various other annual pujas and festivals including Makara chowa, pathamudayam, Navratri and Thrikarthika festival.
