Karimulackal Thuruthiyil Devi Temple – Festival

Karimulackal Thuruthiyil Devi temple is located on the Kayamkulam – Pathanapuram Road in Alappuzha district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. The annual festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Meena Masam and coincides with the Meena Bharani day.

The sankalpam of Bhagavathy is that of Goddess Bhadrakali. Shiva is also has important place in the worship here. The temple has a chathura sreekovil, namaskara mandapam, shrines of upa devatas and nalambalam.

The upa devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy, Yogeshwaran, Yakshi, Moorthi, Rakshas, Nagaraja and Nagayakshi. There is a grove or kavu that is part of the temple.

The annual Meena bharani festival is famous for various Shakti temple pujas and rituals, melam, ezhunnallathu and arrival of Kala processions.

Some of the other rituals and festivals in the temple include Bhagavatha Parayanam on the first day or all Malayalam months. Devi Bhagavatha parayanam and Sarvaiswarya puja is conducted on Bharani nakshatra day in all Malayalam months. Vilakku puja is held on all Malayalam months. Ayilya puja is held on all months. Noorum palum is held on Ayilyam nakshatra day in Kumbha masam.

Mandala Chirappu mahotsavam is held in Vrischika masam, Shivratri, Ramayana Masam, Parakkezhunnelippu in makaram - kumbham month (January to March), navahayagnjam, Navratri festival, sapthaha yajnam, Laksha deepam festival, Vilakku anpoli festival are held in the temple.
