Peechi Thundathu Bhagavathy Temple – Festival

Peechi Thundathu Bhagavathy temple is located at Peechi in Thrissur district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga Bhagavathy. The annual pooram festival in the temple is held on Punartham nakshatra in Kumbha Masam. This is a traditional style Kerala temple located in a beautiful place atop a small hill. The shrine has a chathura sreekovil, namaskara mandapam, shrines of upa devatas and a pond. The annual festival is nearly a dozen caparisoned elephants, melam, ezhunnallathu and performing art forms of Kerala. The temple observes various other rituals and festivities in a calendar year including Makara chowa, prathishta dinam, Vishu, Ramayana Masam, Navratri, Mandalakalam and Thrikarthika.

Kattanam Oorukkuzhi Shakteesha Temple – Festival

Kattanam Oorukkuzhi Shakteesha temple, also known as Oorukkuzhi Devi temple, is located at Kattanam in Alappuzha district. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Devi. The annual festival in the temple is held on Punartham nakshatra in Kumbha Masam. This is a small ancient Bhagavathi temple famous for Shakti worship. Shiva is another deity worshipped here. The annual festival is famous for ezhunnallathu, melam and other temple festivities. Pujas and rituals as per Tantric Shakteya rites are performed here. The festival is famous Kettulsavam and Varavelppu. Another important festival in the temple is Shivratri.

Kongal Padinjatteveedu Durga Sri Rama Hanuman Temple – Festival

Kongal Padinjatteveedu Durga Sri Rama Hanuman temple is located at Kongal on Paravur – Pozhikara Road in Kollam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga, Bhagavan Sri Rama and Hanuman. The annual festival in the temple is held on Punartham nakshatra in Kumbha Masam. This is small ancient temple with old murtis of gods and goddesses. The outer structures of the temple are new. The annual festival is famous for ezhunnallathu, melam and other temple festivities. Pujas and rituals as per Vaishnava and Shakteya rites are performed here.

Mankara Kannambariyaram Njarakkottukavu – Vela Festival

Mankara Kannambariyaram Njarakkottukavu is located at Mankara Kannambariyaram near Pathiripala in Palakkad district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. The annual Vela festival in the temple is held in Kumbha Masam. This is small Bhagavathi temple with a Chathura sreekovil. The temple has shrines of upa devatas. The annual Vela festival is noted for parayeduppu, shuddhi kalasam, chandan charthal, porottukali, poothan thira, kalarikkal kuthira, panchavadyam, thayambaka, ezhunellippu and traditional performing art forms. A total of one big Vela and 7 Cheru velas participate in the annual festival. The temple also observes Prathishta dinam, Navratri and Thrikarthika festival.

Kuttanassery Kilikkurussi Kavu Durga Temple – Festival

Kuttanassery Kilikkurussi Kavu Durga temple is located at Kuttanassery near Sreekrishnapuram in Palakkad district, Kerala. The annual pratishta festival in the temple is held in Kumbha Masam. The annual Vela festival in the temple is held during Meena Bharani day in Meena Masam. This is an ancient shrine dedicated to Goddess Durga Bhagavathy. This is a traditional Kerala temple located near the Kunthipuzha. The sankalpam of Mother Goddess Devi here is that of Vana Durga. The temple has a kodimaram (flag pole), chuttambalam, chathura sreekovil and namaskara mandapam. The 7-day annual pratishta festival begins with kodiyettam in Meena Masam. The various rituals in the temple include Bhagavata Saptaham, Prasada oottu, traditional Kerala temple art forms, Vriksha pooja, Sangeetha archana, Guru Puja, Vidya Gopala Mantra Archana, Aadrayanam, niramala, chuttu vilakku nadi puja, Mathru pooja and Sarpa pradarshanam.
