Garuda Dwadasi in Odisha

Garuda Dwadasi is observed during the waxing phase of moon (Shukla Paksha) in Kartik month in Odisha. Garuda Dwadasi 2018 date is November 20 and is of significance at the PuriJagannathTemple. The day is dedicated to Garuda – the Vahana of Lord Vishnu. It is observed the day after the Bada Ekadasi and along with Tulsi Puja.

Garuda Dwadasi is an important ritual in PuriJagannathTemple. Scores of devotees participate in the ritual.

It is also the second day of the Panchuka rituals part of Kartik Brata observed in Puri.

Ksheerabdi Dwadasi 2018 date – Ksheerabdhi Dwadashi 2018

Ksheerabdi Dwadasi is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Ksheerabdi Dwadasi 2018 date is November 20. It is observed on the 12th day of the Shukla Paksha, or waxing phase of moon, in Kartik Month. Tulsi plant is worshipped on the Ksheerabdhi Dwadashi day.

Dhatri Havan and Tulsi Kalyanam are observed on the day.

A legend associated with the day suggests that after Chatur Masa, Srihari Vishnu wakes up on the Ekadasi day and visits the people on earth on the Ksheerabdi Dwadasi day.

Tulsi plant and Amla Tree are worshipped on the day. The day is also the first day of Tulsi Vivah Puja in many regions.

Ksheerabdi Dwadasi is also dedicated to the worship of Goddess Lakshmi and she is worshipped along with coins on the day.

The Prabodini Ekadasi fast which began on the previous day ends on the morning of Ksheerabdi Dwadasi.

There is a widespread belief that Srihari Vishnu who goes to sleep on Ashada Shukla Paksha Ekadasi wakes up on Kartik Shukla Paksha Ekadasi. He then first visits the Tulsi plant. …

Chiluku Dwadasi 2018 date – Chilku Dwadashi

Chiluku Dwadasi is dedicated to worship of the Tulsi plant and is observed by certain communities in South India. Chiluku Dwadasi 2018 date is November 20. The rituals on the day are dedicated to Hindu God Vishnu – Tulsi plant and Sri Krishna. Chilku Dwadashi is observed on the 12th day during the Shukla Paksha or waxing phase of moon in Kartik month.

Shaligram Puja and worship of Awala or gooseberry are also observed on the day.

The main ritual on the day is the Tulsi Kalyanam.

The popular belief is that Srihari Vishnu visits earth on the day after his sleep during the Chaurmasya period.
