Navratri Festival at Washim Balaji Mandir

Navratri Festival at Washim Balaji Mandir is held in Ashwin month. This is one of the most important fair and festival at the Balaji Temple in Washim in Maharashtra. Washim Balaji Mandir Navratri 2024 date is October 3 to October 12, 2024. The festival begins with hoisting of flags and erecting of Garuda Pillar made of silver. Music festivals, storytelling and satsangs are organized during the 9-day period.  Utsav murti of Balaji is taken to Goddess Chamundi Temple and the Washim Balaji Trust offer pujas and silk saree to Goddess. On the 10th day (Vijayadasami day), which is last day, utsava murti and Padukas are taken out on a wooden chariot to the end of municipal limits of the town to carry out Simolanghan ritual . Navratri Festival at Washim Balaji Mandir is annually held from Ashwin Shukla Paksha Pratipada Tithi to Navami tithi or the first to ninth day of waxing phase of moon in Ashwin month as per traditional Hindu lunar calendar followed in Maharashtra.

Renovation of Kalyana Mandapam at Thousand-Pillar Temple Going Slowly

Renovation of the famous Kalyana Mandapam at Thousand-Pillar Temple in Warangal in Telangana is going slowly. The project was to be completed in December 2014. Now it is expected to be completed in November 2015. The New Indian Express reports  The reconstruction of the Kalayana Mandapam of the historic Thousand-Pillar temple, an architectural marvel, is moving at a slow pace. Though it was expected to be completed by last December, it missed the deadline again much to the disappointment of cultural enthusiasts and tourists. However, it is said reconstruction is likely to be completed by October or November this year.  When contacted, INTACH convener Prof M Panduranga Rao, who has been associated with the reconstruction of the Kalyana Mandam since its dismantling, said the ASI had already spent Rs 6 crore for reconstruction works and added that 85 per cent of the work had been completed.
