Panchatantra Of Durgasimha - 11th century CE Literary Work In Kannada And Sanskrit

Durgasimha was an army chief of the Chalukya King, Jagadeka Malla, of the 11th century CE. He is the author of Panchatantra in Kannada. It is the only book written by him; a collection of fables composed in champu form, in which, as the author he himself claims, prose preponderates over verse. Panchatantra of Durgasimha is written in Sanskrit and Kannada. The title and the contents of the work resemble the famous Panchatantra of Vishnu Sharma in Sanskrit. But there is no reference to the Sanskrit work. Instead, the author clearly state that his work is based on Panchatantra of Vasubhaga Datta (probably a Jaina) which owed its origin to the five stories written by Gunadhya in Paishachi language. In fact, the existence of Vasubhaga Datta’s version of Panchatantra has a total of 65 stories. Out of this, 15 stories are found to written exclusively by Durgasimha. Surya Bhedana Pranayama is particular yogic breathing exercise. The exercise provides beneficial results as it helps in generating heat in the body and removing several disorders from the body. Bombay Atalantia Plant Sacred in Hindu Religion

Bombay Atalantia, or wild lime, is known as banjamir nimbur or bannimbu in Hindi, kurundai or Kuruntu in Tamil, huchhu nimbe in Kannada, kattu narakam in Malayalam, makad limbu or ran limbi in Marathi and adavi nimbai in Telugu. The tree worshipped as the sacred tree in certain temples in Tamilnadu. The fruit of the tree is also known as sweet blossomed lime and there is a popular belief that those who apply the mud from below the tree will be cured of all skin diseases including leprosy. Navratri Festival At Kolhapur Mahalaxmi Temple

The Navratri festival held in Ashwin month (September – October) is observed for 10 days at the world famous Kolhapur Mahalaxmi temple. The festival begins with Ghatasthapana and concludes on Dashami. During Navratri daily puja is performed on all ten days at 8:30 AM 11:30 AM and 9:30 PM. Goddess Mahalaxmi is adorned with her traditional ornaments at 2:00 PM. At 9:30 PM during Navratri, a procession is carried out on silver palanquin. The music for the procession is provided by the police and military band. The procession ends at 10:30 PM. Devotees have darshan of Maa Laxmi at Garuda Mandapam at 10:30 PM and a one canon salute marks the end of the festivities and rituals for the day.
