How to Worship Shani? – Offerings and Mantras for Sani Bhagavan

Trayodashi Vrat – Fasting on thirteenth day in Hinduism

Trayodashi Vrata is those observed on the thirteenth day during the waxing phase of moon or Shukla Paksha in a Hindu lunar month. The most popular Trayodashi Vrat is the Ananga Trayodashi Vrat. Other vrats include the Kamatroyodashi in Chaitra month. The upvaas and fasting on the 13th day is usually dedicated to Lord Shiva. Those observing fast on the thirteenth day during the Shukla Paksha in Magh month (January – February) worship Shiva and offer Til and sun-dried rice. Those observing fast on the day take honey. The fast on thirteenth day in Poush month is dedicated to Yogeshwara. Kakola is worshipped in the Phalugna month and Shiva in Chaitra month. Karanjeshwari Devi is a manifestation of Mother Goddess Shakti and in this form she is worshipped in the konkan region of Maharashtra, Goa and North Karnataka . Story - Ganesha Writing The Mahabharata

As per the Hindu tradition, Sage Vyasa narrated the Mahabharata and Ganesha wrote it down. The longest epic in the world was not the job for an ordinary scribe and therefore Sage Vyasa requested Ganesh to become his scribe. The content is conceived by Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan, a scholar of Gita Govinda for over thirty years. The Gita Govinda is a classical poem, dramatizing the love sports of Krishna and Radha. Written by the poet Jayadeva, this 12th century poem has been capturing the imagination of countless poets, artists, musicians, dancers and devotees.
