Ram Sita Marg, also known as Ram Janki Marg, holds immense
significance in Hindu mythology and is deeply intertwined with the epic of
Ramayana. It symbolizes the journey of Lord Rama and Mata Sita after their
marriage, as they traversed from Janakpur to Ayodhya, their eventual home.
Over time, the path that was once traversed by the wedding
procession, or Baraatis, has transformed into a proper road. This road now
serves as a sacred route for thousands of devotees who walk through it with
deep reverence, reenacting the wedding procession with profound devotion.
Stretching from Ayodhya to Badhalganj, the road passes
through several significant locations, each carrying its own historical and
religious significance. These include Katara, Maya, Keshavpur, Ravatam, Sarai,
Fooladi, Shakkarpur, Pachvas, Khisva, Chhawani, Poli, Sikriganj, and finally,
Badhalganj.
One of the most significant events associated with Ram Sita Marg is the Parikrama undertaken during Vivah Panchami, which falls in the Margashirsh month (December – January) of the Hindu calendar. During this time, thousands of devotees gather to walk along the path, commemorating the divine union of Lord Rama and Mata Sita, and seeking blessings for marital harmony and prosperity. This annual event draws devotees from far and wide, fostering a sense of spiritual connection and cultural heritage among the participants.
