The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavathy and various deities that are commonly worshipped in kavu and tharavadu in the region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Thula Masam – Thulam 12 to Thulam 13 (October 29 to October 30).

The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Chiravakku Sree Puthiyadathu Kavu temple are Manjalamma theyyam, Pottan theyyam, Gulikan Vishnumoorthi, Thee Chamundi and Manjunathan theyyam.

This is a small traditional Kerala style temple with a decorated small chathura sreekovil. There are no huge structures. Other deities popularly worshipped in tharavadu in Kannur region are also worshipped in the temple in small sreekovils, under trees and atop small square raised platforms. Sankranti in a Malayalam masam is important here.
