Adikkumpara Sree Puthiya Bhagavathi Karimchamundi Sthanam temple located near Taliparamba in Kannur district, Kerala. This is a rare temple with Karim Chamundi as one of the presiding deities. The shrine is also dedicated to numerous deities that are worshipped in tharavadu and kavu in the region. The annual theyyam – kaliyattam – thira festival is held for two days in Malayalam Meda Masam – (April 29 and April 30) (Medam 16 and Medam 17).
The temple has a main small chathura sreekovil (square sanctum sanctorum). There are also other small square platforms and sreekovil for worshipping other deities.
The Karim Chamundi theyyam performed here attracts a huge
crowd. A large bonfire is created in the temple compound and the theyyam plays
with fire and burning coal.
Various agricultural products are offered to the deities
during auspicious occasions. The most important day in a month is the Sankranti.
Vishu is another important festival here.
The important theyyams that are part of the annual
kaliyattam festival are Gulikan Theyyam, Karimchamundi theyyam, Puthiya
Bhagavathi theyyam, Veera Kali theyyam and Veeran theyyam.
