Ayyappilly Daivam theyyam kolam is a very rare theyyam performed during the annual theyyam kaliyattam festival in Kannur and Kasaragod region of Kerala. As per information, the theyyam is dedicated a person who was alive. Ayyappilly Theyyam story is that of Ayyappilly, a Pulayan, was shot and killed by an army commander, Kolamudi Manna, who was on his way to participate in a war. He found Ayyappilly obstructing his way and thought he was a bad omen. On hearing, Ayyappilly getting killed, Azhikottarachan Kurikkal arrived on the scene and objected to the killing. He was also shot and killed. The two people later were given the form of theyyam for their sacrifice.
The theyyam is annually performed at the Kannur Payyanur Kavvayi Kottakeezhil Bhagavathi Temple on the night of February 28.
